Warning: blog contents are exceptionally hot today!
The Blogger.com gods have smiled upon us and listed Connectedness at the top of today's list of ten "Blogs of Note."
The resulting spike in readership is interesting for two reasons. First, it's huge (as you can see).
Second, even though this spike is much bigger than previous ones we have enjoyed (e.g., thanks to Barry Wellman and the SNA Jump Start Conference), this is the first spike that has gone completely unnoted by my colleagues (and was brought to my attention instead by SiteMeter). Perhaps my regular readers can sense the structural hole gaping between them and the newly arrived hordes of Blogger buzz-trackers.And, if I am lucky, perhaps just a few of the new readers checking me out will be interested to discover what is a structural hole, and join the ranks of my regulars.
In any case, I am doing my best to introduce all of you to each other--for example, through the automatic referral feed you can see at the bottom of my right sidebar, and through the public access I have provided to my SiteMeter statistics.

Well, now is golden opportunity to show us your "SNA chops"... ;-)
As you are aware, you are getting massive in-degrees, and possibly from more than one source. So, who is pointing to you? And who is pointing to them?
I use my ISP's web logs, Google Analytics, and Technorati to figure out the spikes to my site. We would love to read your BNA* of your recent spikes in an upcoming post.
* BNA = blog network analysis
I forgot to mention... the reason I came to your site now was because I noticed higher incoming traffic from your blog in my referrer logs...so I was wondering why the blip on my site.
It makes sense, if you are getting huge volumes of incoming traffic, those you link to will also notice/ride the wave... your ripple is spreading!
I once had a structural hole in my basement...no matter what anyone tells you at home depot, don't try and repair it yourself...the grief alone will cost you more than hiring a contractor!!
